Meeting Sergei

Today we met Ruslan's older brother Sergei. He came to the orphanage to meet us while we were waiting to visit with Ruslan. He seems like a nice young man himself. We also got to meet Ruslan's supervisor, Alla Sergeevna, and had a photo op with her. She seems like a good lady. We walked from the apartment, which leaves a little to be desired by the way, to the orphanage. It is about a 30 minute walk. We had intended on taking the kids bowling in the city and inviting Sergei along, however, he only had a few minutes to meet with us as he was working. We are going to try to do something with him tomorrow since it is his only day off.
After meeting his brother we walked with the kids into the center of the city and stopped at a pizza place for a bite to eat. It started raining so we took a taxi back to the apartment. We played Yahtzee for a while until the kids had to go back to the orphanage.

Our kids have asked for more pictures so we will include a few more today including a few of our apartment and surrounding area and some that Ray took this morning at the open air market (never seen anything like that before!). The culture here is so interesting. Enjoy.

Sergei is 18 and therefore is not adoptable. There is also some issues between them that we can explain later. By the way, go Cougars. We are listening to the game on KSL radio. I love the internet.

Ruslan could be the next Karate Kid (appearance is strikingly similar). The apartment looks better on the inside than on the outside. Amazing what we take for granted at home, like sewer free smells. Sergei doesn't look really happy in the picture. We hope all goes well with the Court. How do you get internet access?

We are blessed to have a wireless connection in the apartment. That is the best thing ever! We can post when we want, read and send e-mails, read news, etc. It is awesome. It would be hard to have to plan to go to the Internat Cafe.

Can't wait for you and Jeff to be called to the Ukraine mission! I stayed at a Marriot once that looked just like that, but different.
I have a lot of sympathy for Sergei. He has had to make it on his own. Too bad. Give him a hug from us
