Today we woke up later and sat around the apartment waiting for Natasha to call. We hoped we would be able to meet with the city administrator today, the last step prior to requesting a court date. No such luck, it will be tomorrow before we get to meet with him.
A little later tonight Ruslan and Evenson's girls arrived with Natasha who had picked them up from the orphanage and brought pizza to the apartment for the kids. It was quite a treat for them. Ruslan read the letters that the family had sent him and looked at some pictures that Corissa had sent. He spent a lot of time reading the letters and it was evident he was touched by them. We then showed him our blog and Janelle's and Corissa's blog. It was fun for him to see what everyone was doing and he and girls laughed at the videos on Janelle's blog of Cort and Tanner dancing and moth killing in Grouse Creek.
Natasha told us that Ruslan wanted to send an e-mail to the kids. We decided to just post it here in his own words.
Hi Family,
I miss you all a lot. I can not wait to see you all in America. I believed that Mom and Dad would come and get me. I would like to go to the soccer games with you when I get to America (short but sweet).
I finally have a eager partner to go see the REAL games!
We played spoons for a while and it was time for the kids to get back to the orphanage. They have to be back by 8:00pm. Natasha talked to us tonight about the process and it appears right now that if we stayed we would not be done until around the 10th of December. We discussed the option of both returning home next weekend after the court date and one of us returning around December 1 and completing the process to bring Ruslan home. More on this to come.
FYI, last night while walking back to the orphanage Natasha needed to know what Ruslan's legal name would be. As we walked we talked about it we decided with Ruslan that it would be Ruslan Matthew Carr. We kept his first name at his request and he will go by Ruslan at home. But he has a great new middle name. There is no turning back now as it was submitted with paperwork today. Hope you all like his new name.

Wow thats a lot of info to take in. Love the new name by the way! That was a sweet email. We miss him also. Give him a hug from us! Keep us updated on what your plans are. So sad about the 10th of December. We were hoping to see you sooner. Love ya lots!
love the name - you've got your double constantants! love the blog! miss you guys. Give Ruslan a hug from me (I'm kind related;o))
The name Ruslan just seems to fit for him. The new name gives you lots of options: Ruslan, Russ, Matthew, Matt and even RM. Hope all goes well with the paperwork and officials.
David & Eldie
Matthew was absolutely the best choice! But I am a little bias. Now I am a shoe-in to be the favorite uncle.
Ruslan might like soccer but I am thinking golf could be his sport. That's what real men play!
What an awesome reunion. The photos I know don't do it justice, but you can see the joy in your faces.
How cool is it that in Ruslan's email he called you Mom and Dad? We are so glad that he now has the family that he has been hoping for. He really hit the jackpot.
love to all
Matt
I am so unbelievably excited for your family, and the extended family for that matter. We are so excited to meet Ruslan and it will be such a joy watching him enjoy his first American Christmas. Take care and I can't wait for the next post!
