Men in Black

Thanks Jenny for the white board

Ann waiting in line, Jeff getting in trouble

Poltava Train Station

Our crew with the landlady's muscle, The men in black

Today was the first day I decided to go for a run since I have been in the Ukraine. Interesting. I was a bit of a point of interest to people on the street. I was the the only one out running that I saw on a very chilly morning. But I can now say I have run on three continents, adding Europe and Australia. Anyway, today we signed up for another week in the apartment (options were really limited) besides we have now lost all sense of smell so it doesn't really matter any more. The landlady is a very nice woman and she had her cleaning lady here cleaning the apartment and we were asked to leave for an hour. She said "the boys" would be by after to collect the rent, very nice young men we met last week and affectionately call our "men in black."

While we were waiting for the apartment to be cleaned we headed out with Natasha to the train station to deliver more documents that needed to be taken to Kiev. We also stopped at a grocery store by the train station. It was a large market with a lot of variety. They have security at some of the grocery stores. You have to check your bags in lockers prior to entering. They also don't allow photographs in most stores, depending on the owner. Jeff accidentally took a picture and got in trouble. He really wasn't trying to cause any problems.

Anyway, we returned to the apartment with our grocery sacks in tow. The apartment actually smelled clean when we entered. We are really beginning to love this place. No really!

I went with Natasha to pick up passport and visa photos of the children and then we were dropped at the orphanage. We got pizza tonight from a place within a couple of blocks of the apartment so we got take-out. Ruslan did a nice job of ordering. I couldn't see the cash register amount and of course I couldn't understand the cashier, so Ruslan showed me his phone and dialed 118 indicating the amount I needed to pay. I love this kid and he is quick on his feet.

how awesome!! I love that dad got in trouble for taking a picture in the store. I can just see dads face as the security guard is going off on him. classic! Dad you gotta be sneaky with shots like that. It's called "hip shooting". And it is literally shooting from the hip. try it next time you want a shot but aren't allowed. LOL. love ya both.

It was the flash that gave Dad away. We have had to take some pictures from the hip. We are getting good at that. Good times!

what fun updates. we've had sick, sick kids so i haven't been able to keep up with you daily. there are some neat areas with beautiful buildings. the rainy weather only seems to add to the atmosphere. i'll bet kris and cort are just aching to be there with you! jeff...you mentioning your runs on several continents reminded me of our morning run (you,me & john...let's not get carried away people) through the mostly empty canal streets of venice. (that was back when i actually was a 'runner'). that was a unique experience that i will never forget. way to find that peaceful solace in that neck of the woods too. we love you guys and are loving the updates. ruslan is so adorable. and you & ann aren't half bad either.

Yeah probably should've told you about that. I'm surprised you didn't get in any trouble for taking pictures of the government buildings in Kiev or any other place. We had missionaries arrested for that kind of behavior, rebels.

Sounds like some place, shocking their tourism rates aren't higher.

Does it ever NOT rain there?
